THE SWAN SHORT FILM AWARDS 2025
 

 
Who Can Enter
A free to enter competition for amateur/non commercial filmmakers - that is individuals or groups who do not make films professionally as a business.  Only ONE FILM per entrant.   Entries should be sent in after January 1st.
 
Running Time and Categories
15 minutes maximum including credits.  Any category - drama, documentary, animation, music video, nature, experimental, etc.  Foreign language entries should have English subtitles.
 
Key Dates
Closing date March 14th.   Final round judging and screening evening April 25th.  
 
How to enter
Send your movie as an MP4 (codec: MPEG-4 video) file (No 4k please) by We Transfer to -[email protected]   Plus by a separate email with the following details: - entrant's name, film title and running time. Or send the file on a USB stick by post to – The Competition Manager,
61 Greenfields Drive, Little Neston, Neston CH64 0UL. Also by post the film as a standard DVD (not Blue Ray) is acceptable.  Please enclose email address, title and running time.  (Only one film on USB stick/disc please. Material will not be returned unless a pre-paid envelope is provided.)
 
First Round Judging
An independent judge will view all the entries then will: a) select a Short List of the best films, b) select the Best Film overall and c) write a short Critique of the best film. 
 
Second Round Judging
Other judges will view the short listed films and select the film that has:-
 
Best story/script - The Graham Kay Award.  
Best directing  
Best film with a Transport Theme - The Angus Tilston Award. 
 
Screening Evening
The short listed films will be screened (in random order) at the Swan Movie Makers' Club Night on Friday April 25th 2024.  The award winning films will be announced plus the Best Film by Audience Vote.  Awards will take the form of certificates plus judges' comments.  Notification will be by email.  Any entrants wishing to attend the award evening will be most welcome to come and join us.
 
Competition is run by IAC affiliated club Swan Movie Makers (Wirral) UK
