Last Friday we welcomed Mike Theaker from Prestatyn. He showed us an interesting selection of films and was anxious to get some feedback from us.
He has found no movie-making clubs in North Wales which reminded us just how lucky we are to still have a club where we can show and discuss our films – and, hopefully, improve our film making.

Swan were treated to a really fascinating evening last Friday 27th October. David Andrew is one of the judges at the British International Amateur Film Festival and was able to share some of his considerable experience with our members. We were invited to make comparisons between two films in each of three categories – drama, documentary, and movie to music. All six films were well made but we were encouraged to discuss and decide on the merits of each work. There was plenty of discussion and a surprising level of agreement. Film making groups are very happy to sit and watch other people’s movies but they don’t often get the chance to think and talk in depth about what they’ve seen. Thanks to David and his carefully planned ‘workshop’, we went away feeling that bit wiser about what makes a really good film.
Let’s hope it shows in Swan’s future productions!
